Warwick Trails Group August Hike Last winter, we scheduled this hike for January only to cancel it due to icy conditions. We rescheduled it for March, hoping that conditions had improved. Yes and no. The trails were no longer icy but there was now still a lot of deep snow! A few hardy souls did the hike anyway but let’s try this again without the snow and ice. So . . .
The Warwick Trails Group invites you to join us for a hike on the Darling Brook and Hockanum Hill Trails.
When: Third Sunday of the month: August 16 at 1 p.m.
Where to meet: At the parking area located on Wendell Road, about 0.7 miles south of the intersection of Wendell and Quarry Roads.
The Hike: This long lollipop loop hike (about 5.5 miles, with a change in elevation of about 650 feet) in the south of Warwick combines the ruggedness of the Darling Brook Trail with the more family-friendly Hockanum Hill trails. Please bring hiking poles if you have them, proper footwear, bug spray, and a water bottle. We will have maps and a trail description available.
Note: We will spot a vehicle at the Hockanum Road parking lot for those of you who want to do just some of the hike.
The all volunteer Warwick Trails Group maintains some of Warwick’s town owned trails, hikes and maps existing trails, plans and creates new ones, and occasionally leads hikes around Warwick.
