Meeting minutes – MPBC- Tuesday May 14, 2024

  • Call to order by D. Ellis, 6:00pm
  • In Attendance: J. Barber, P. Bellemare, A. Carman, D. Ellis, D. Farley
  • Meeting minutes of April 16, 2024 were read and accepted.
  • Treasurer’s report unavailable. It was mentioned that checks due from the boat race and water testing should be on the way.
  • Old Business:
    o Beach clean-up scheduled for Tuesday 5/21124 at 3:00pm. Please bring your garden tools and gloves! The Bellemares will take the waste to the Warwick dump.
    o Picnic Tables – They will be removed one by one by the Bellemares and scraped and redone. They will alert MPBC members to help.
    o Committee recruitment – status quo for now. Seeking new members.
    o Corregatta- A note was sent to William Snell at the Warwick School to garner interest for the children’s participation. Still waiting on response. Debate regarding continued community interest. A. Carman made a suggestion of the possibility of a boat parade. The group discussed a steam powered musical boat that may be a possibility for Old Home Days. The owner of this boat will be contacted.
  • New Business:
    o Ethics Training- A Town memo was sent to all Warwick departments January 24, 2024 stating that all Committee members must review the Summary of the Conflict of Interest Law and then take the online Ethics test every 2 years. This must be completed by July 31, 2024. Visit https://massethicstraining.skillburst.com/User/index.php and create a new account.(Select “Warwick” under Organization). After verifying your email and setting a password, you can acknowledge Receipt of the Summary of Conflict of interest Law for Municipal Employees and also complete the Conflict of Interest Law Training.
  • Other:
    o P.Bellmare picks up water testing bottles from Nelson Labs. She will water test on 5/21, and should have results for the Board of Health meeting on 6/18. D. Ellis will call to follow up on how testing invoices are paid.
    o The EPA is preparing a topographical map of the pond. They are also conducting a fish count on the pond. This week they have stocked the pond.
    o There is a beaver making his roundsnear the shore each evening at 7:00pm.
