Moores Pond Committee Minutes for Meeting
Tuesday, April 16, 2024 Town Beach
- Diane Ellis called the meeting to order 6:05pm. Present members: J. Barber, P. Bellemare, A. Carman, D. Ellis, D. Farley. Absent members: M. Connelly, K. Farley, K. Tuttle-Connelly
- The draft minutes of the 9/19/2023 were reviewed and approved.
- K. Tuttle-Connelly presented the Treasurer’s Report: The last meeting’s account balance was $1005.71. During the meeting
$63.15 was turned in as donations from the Old Home Days Boat Race. P. Bellemare submitted a receipt for $58.74 for the purchase of stain for the picnic tables. It was decided to use the donations from the boat race to reimburse her. The balance of the donations is $4.41.
D. Ellis submitted 2 receipts totaling $84.99 for Boat Race Prizes. These have been submitted to the Town Accountant for payment from the MPBC account. Current balance is $920. 72. - Old Business:
a. P. Bellemare will continue monthly water testing. The first test will be conducted before the beach opening May 30. D.Ellis will work with the Town employees Anna Picard and Debra Jones to expedite payments for water testing.
b. Picnic table paint has been purchased, and the plan is to get them painted before beach opening. All members were willing to help. - New business:
a. Beach clean-up day has been scheduled for Tuesday, May 21 at 3:00pm.
b. An addition to the Beach Rules sign at the kiosk stating that visitors to the beach should stay away from the dam.
c. A. Carman will submit an article for the May Town Newsletter.
d. A. Carman will prepare and distribute a new Committee contact list.
e. D. Farley was welcomed as a new Committee member. The group needs one new member. D. Ellis will make inquiries. A. Carman will include a request for new members in the newsletter article.
f. MPBC meetings for the 2024 season: May 14, June 11, July 9, August 13, and September 10. Meetings held on 6:00pm at the town beach or in case of rain, the porch at 40 Hemlock Lane.
g. Corregatta 2024: The group agreed some participation in Old Home Days was important, but no decision was made as to what that would be. The subject was tabled until the next meeting.
h. J. Barber will investigate how the MPBC can be included in the Town of Warwick website.
i. A survey of the beach noted some destruction of the shrubbery by beavers, and the need for more sand.
j. M. Connelly will follow up about the pine tree that needs to come down.
